GUNS N' ROSES

It is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1985. It is formed by the vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler. The current lineup consists of Rose, Slash, McKagan, keyboarddists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese, Richard Fortus is the guitarist and the drummer is Frank Ferrer.

"Sweet Child o'Mine" was the only single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The album has sold approximately 30 million copies worldwide, making the best-selling debut of all time in the US.

Formation:

• It was formed in March 1985 by Rose. The band coined the names by combining the names of both previous groups: Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns

The Guns and Roses music is a fusion of hard rock, blues rock, heavy metal and

rock and roll.

Glam metal was used in all the decade of 80s with bands like Bon Jovi or Def Leppard.

Guns and Roses were loyal to their roots of hard rock of 70s. Roses has said that the sound of the band

has been influenced by many groups, like The Beatles, Queen, AC/DC, Kiss...

1. Axl is a collector of Latin American religious artifacts, particularly crucifixes.
2. The song “Chinese Democracy” was Axl’s emotional tribute to John Lennon’s death.

4. Axl loves Christina Aguilera, proclaiming her “one of the greatest vocalists of our time” inBlender.
5. The abandoned house in the video for Guns N’ Roses’ “Estranged” is Rose’s own Malibu mansion.
