Apple Cake

APPLE STREUSEL  TORTE

HISTORY

It appeared for the first time in some European countries like  France, United Kingdom and Holland.
U.K    
-n England it appeared in a cookery book called “The Forme of Cury” in 1390 from the cooks of Ricardo II of England. The style of their type of food was Anglo-Norman. It was a long tradition of Mediterranean diet. In this recipe we have to use apples to make the dough. This cake was very famous in America  because Bristish people took it there. It was called "American apple pie".
FRANCE
In France it appaered for the first time in a cookery book in 1651 called The French Cook by François Pierre de La Varenne. Apples were baked with butter and then they were scented in flowery water and finally sprinkled  with sugar.
HOLLAND
This cake appeared for the first time in an oil painting in 1626. The filling was made with apples, raisins, lemon juice and cinnamon . They decorated it putting a layer of dough on the cake.
VENEZUELA
Here in this country the apple pie is made with strudel. It’s a dough of apple, suggar and fat. When you bake it,  sugar smells like candy.
In Germany it is made similarly but they put streusell on it. Streusell is made with  coconut, butter, sugar and flavour.

INGREDIENTS

For the dough

       175 gr.  flavour
       175 gr.  sugar
       175 gr.  butter
       3 eggs
       5 gr. of leave
       lemon zest
       2 apples
       2  tablespoons milk
       Vanilla


For the streusel

       115 gr.  flavour
       85 gr.  sugar
       85 gr.  butter
       coconut powder


PREPARATION

1º Preheat the oven to 180º C.

2º Bate butter and 200g of sugar. In a medium speed between 3-4 minutes. The dough has  to be pale and granulated.

3º Add the eggs and mix all together.

4º Add the flavour and the vanilla. Mix it until the dough is homogeneus. Put the dough in a different bowl.

5º Peel and cut apples, it’s necessary to take away the seed. Put them on the dough.

6º Mix the cinnamon and the remaining sugar and sprinkle on the apples.

7º Put the cake in the oven between 50-60 minutes until the apples are golden.

HOW TO MAKE STREUSEL

1º Add butter in a bowl and melt it in the microwave


2º Then mix the flavour, sugar and coconnut powder. When the butter is melt, add the other dough and put it on the apples of the cake before putting into the  oven.



-In our opinion this project is interesting because you learn how to do recipes, which are tradicional in other countries and cultures. In the other hand if you work with a classmate you can meet him/her better.
